December 2021 Executive Director’s Message

Happy Holidays from the HRA ‘ohana to yours!

As we prepare to wrap up 2021, I can honestly say I am looking forward to what 2022 will bring. We are so very grateful for the support of our members, our Executive Committee and Board of Directors, Corporate Partners, Sponsors, and the entire food service community during these challenging last few years.

A special Mahalo to American Savings Bank who made the 2022 Hawaii Restaurant Card – Business Holiday Card possible. The HRC is valid through June 30, 2022. It is a Mastercard debit card. The HRC debit card may be used in restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries and bars to pay for food, cocktails, tax and tip. The HRC poster should be in your window to inform card holders that you accept the card. By the time you receive this December newsletter the cards will have arrived, so be on the lookout & get a poster in your window now!

I received many reports from restaurateurs that their ERTC checks have been received. This is such wonderful news for our restaurants. Should you have any questions about ERTC, feel free to contact me via email.

The Hawaii Restaurant Association has been hard at work planning to make 2022 an exciting year. We are looking forward to our Hall of Fame Gala on February 28th; The Hawaii Hotel and Restaurant Show in March; and our Annual Golf Tournament in July at the Prince Golf Course.

The legislative session starts in January and the HRA Government Relations committee has already been meeting with our government officials. Your voice is needed. Look for communications by email requesting your testimony on the important bills affecting YOUR restaurant.  The testimony can be either written or verbal. Your VOICE does make a difference.

As we close 2021, thank you for your amazing support. While this year has been filled with many new challenges, the foodservice industry has overcome them together. Here’s to a successful 2022!
