November 2021 Executive Director’s Message

Wow! It’s amazing that it’s November and 2021 is coming to an end. This has been a really busy year for the Hawaii Restaurant Association, and we’re looking forward to some new and exciting events next year.

In the month of October we held two free webinars (the Employee Retention Credit webinar and updates from the Department of Health). Our government relations committee led by Victor Lim, met with Senator Hirono to discuss securing her support on the refunding of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and met with Representative Onishi to discuss the upcoming legislative session.

As Thanksgiving approaches, I am reflecting on all the things I am grateful for. I am grateful to our valued members, our Executive Committee, Board of Directors and wonderful volunteers. To our administrative team, Chivon Garcia HRA’s Executive Assistant & Holly Kessler our Director of Membership. This last year has been challenging to say the least but I am thankful for each and everyone of you and I appreciate all the support. I will continue to fight on your behalf to make sure that your voices are heard.

Secondly, I am grateful to all of our participants and speakers of the numerous webinars we have held over this last year. Your expertise and knowledge have been invaluable to all our members. Your continued support to bring relevant and educational topics to our membership has been extremely valuable!

What will 2022 bring? I am thrilled to announce, our quarterly membership mixers are returning! Save the date for HRA’s New Year’s Party on Monday, January 24th; the Hall of Fame Gala on Monday, February 28th; the Hawaii Hotel and Restaurant Show on Wednesday, March 30th and Thursday, March 31st; and our Annual Golf Tournament is being planned as this newsletter is coming out!

Last but not least, I am very thankful & humbled for all the life long relationships that have developed and grown during this past year; I will always be grateful to each and every one of you!

Mahalo,

Sheryl
