December 2019 Executive Director Message

2019 was an amazing year! From building new relationships to continuing to build upon our lifelong partnerships, I am beyond grateful for the many successes this year has provided. As we prepare for the New Year, it is important to take a look and revisit the many events that made 2019 so successful.

At HRA, we always like to ring in the New Year just right, and this past January was no exception. A big mahalo to everyone who helped make our HRA Holiday party: Winter in Waikiki such a success. Mahalo to Duke’s Waikiki and Tiki’s Grill & Bar for hosting our full house event and providing the food, Kuana Torres Kahele for keeping the event so lively and, of course, mahalo to those who sponsored our beverages for the evening.

Some of my favorite mixers from this year include Sushi and Sake Pa ‘ina at Shokudo (March), Sunset at Cinnamon’s (May), Outback (July) and our Octoberfest at Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant. These events are always well attended and beloved by members and industry leaders alike.

Our 12th annual golf tournament was the best-attended tournament to date! Mark your calendars for next year’s tournament Thursday, July 16th because you won’t want to miss out on all of the awesome team & raffle prizes.

We proudly showcased the very best in the hospitality industry at our annual Hawaii Hotel & Restaurant Show at the Convention Center where those in attendance were able to take advantage of our very popular “Leader to Leader” meetings and attend educational seminars. You’ll want to be sure to schedule yourself for next year’s one-on-one opportunities to speak with industry leaders from Hotel Management, Restaurant Owners and Facility Operators. For more information on next year’s event please contact Sheryl@hawaiirestaurant.org Save the date: April 15th & 16th, 2020.

In September we witnessed 24 Karat Culinary Magic with this year’s 13th Annual Hall of Fame inductees. Some of our golden moments include honoring our Inductees, 15 Chefs of Aloha, all of our beverage sponsors, our partners and our many, many volunteers. Without all of these this beautiful night may have never been.

I would like to thank all of you for your continued support of our Hawaii Restaurant Association. In 2020, I look forward to seeing our food service industry strengthen!

Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season and may your blessings grow and multiply in 2020!
