In recent years consumer dining trends have been changing and that pace of change is steadily increasing, linked in part to the smart-phone revolution that provides millions of us with affordable real-time access to the internet. Recent research indicates that 70% of diners are now looking online to plan their next meal, whether ordering it for delivery to their home or choosing a place to dine out. In either case, the research also shows that most people consider up to four restaurants before deciding, and 73% of dining happens within two hours of their search. Today, digital decision-making accounts for between 18% and 22% of restaurant total sales, and that is projected to grow by more than 33% over the next three years.
