KCC Culinary School Announces FREE Cook Certification Program

Through a federal grant, the Culinary Institute of the Pacific via the Kapi’olani Community College Culinary Department, is able to offer a FREE State Cook Certificate program to anyone who’s working as a cook (prep, line, sous, exec, etc) at any food-service establishment on Oahu. This program, known as the Hawaii Cook Apprentice Program, is designed specifically to cater to the schedule of a full-time employee so classes are only held once per week at KCC. Participants choose Fridays or Sundays – mornings or evenings.

Participants will take these classes:

-Safety & Sanitation (will earn their ServSafe Food Handler card)

-Culinary Nutrition

-Introduction to Food Service

-Menu Planning

-Fundamentals lab (20 week cooking course in KCC kitchens)

The next 30-week session begins in February 2019 and will be the 4th round of the program, which has had over 200 participants so far.

Please forward this information to your chefs, managers and HR team right away to make sure your employees have an opportunity to get one of the coveted spots (only 80 available this session).
