In 1988, husband and wife, Il Man and Sam Soon Chung opened up their very first dine-in breakfast and lunch restaurant on the island of O’ahu. Designed from Hawaiian Koa wood, the first Koa Pancake House was born. To expand the brand, the Chungs’ decided to open up a second location in 2001, to provide a fast casual dining experience. Since then, 7 Koa Pancake Houses have been opened across the island, proudly serving traditional breakfast and lunch plates with a local Hawaiian flare. In 2014, the business was kept in the family and passed to the second generation as the son, Juno Chung took over. He plans to expand the brand throughout the islands of Hawaii and the continental US.
