As previously reported, the Hawaii Restaurant Association had a new feature to the July Hawaii Lodging, Hospitality and Foodservice Expo – “The HRA Pavilion.”
HRA was a title sponsor of the Expo and we proudly displayed a 12 foot by 15 foot banner with our logo which hung from the ceiling of the Blaisdell Arena indicating our strong involvement in the event.
Mahalo to the following HRA members who participated in the HRA Pavilion:
On July 12 at the end of Day 1 of the Expo, HRA hosted a special membership mixer.
After a long day walking the Expo, HRA invited our members, guests and industry decision makers to a Pau Hana in the Pikake Room.
There was an amazing turnout of over 250 folks who enjoyed heavy pupus, beer and wine. Thank you to our Pau Hana sponsors: Full Sail Brewery, Blue Ocean Mariculture, Pacific Digital Signs, Kauai Shrimp, Kona Kampachi, Department of Agriculture, Hawaii Volcanic Water and Bai Beverages.
It was the perfect environment to mingle with industry decision makers, restaurants and vendors and close the deals of the day.
What a great way to end Day 1 at the Expo.

New HRA Chairman Tyler Roukema and Education Committee Chair Hide Sakurai
Also on July 12, HRA held the first board meeting of the new board of directors’ term.
Chairman Tyler Roukema oversaw the meeting with over 30 board members in attendance. New committees were formed, and various reports were presented outlining the state of the association.
Highlights include:
-Membership count up 40% over last year
-Membership revenue up 33% over last year
-Event attendance is up from previous years
-Other highlights include the Hawaii Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and the ProStart Program
The future looks bright as HRA continues on an upward trajectory to achieve our goals of increased membership and relevance in the industry.
