Hawaii Restaurant Association – Annual Membership Meeting

On May 10th, 2017 the HRA hosted the 70th Year Annual Membership Meeting at the Kahala Hotel and Resort. A special thanks to Hotel General Manager, Gerald Glennon and Director of F&B, Michele Brumblay for providing the beautiful Maile Ballroom for the meeting. The meeting included the positive growth of the association with 40% increased memberships in 2016 and a positive cash flow at year end, enabling HRA to do more for the food service industry.

One of the biggest items that comes with every Annual meeting is the elections to the HRA Board of Directors. This year we added 10 new restaurant members to the board;

Don Murphy of Murphy’s Irish Pub, Amanda Kipp of BLT Market, Jayson Lum of Moena Café, Harold Watanabe of Yokocho Waikiki, Taryn Silva of Luibueno’s, Kahau Manzo of Pacific Beach Hotel, Scott Mackenzie of Wolf Gang Puck Express, Frank Hagamine of Blue Pacific Management Group, Rede Eder of Hard Rock Café and Kim Kakuchi of Sumo Sushi & Bento.

Plus newly added as Allied Board members; Jason Wong of HFM Foodservice and Matt Rose of SaniKleen Hawaii.

Like any Non-profit association, a healthy and engaged board of directors is very important, HRA has one of the best. With over 6,000 restaurants in the State of Hawaii, it’s a tall order to represent the entire industry. Having a supportive board enables us to address issues at the Capitol, create educational opportunities for teens and adults, host events to bring businesses together, offer solutions to the issues that plague our industry and look to our partners at the National Restaurant Association to show us what the rest of the food service industry is doing across our country.

If you would like to be a part of supporting the food service industry, please contact us.
