Executive Director’s Message

The Hawaii Restaurant Association is grateful to represent an industry that exemplifies diversity, opportunity and leadership at all levels – and this past Monday was our chance to recognize the people who embody these qualities.

On Monday September 19th, 2016 the Hawaii Restaurant Association held its 10th Annual Hall of Fame and Chefs of Aloha Dine Around. 500 guests witnessed 10 new Inductees and 2 Legacy Businesses get added to the list of HRA Hall of Fame Greats.

The Hall of Fame honors restaurant-industry icons who have enhanced our industry through their work and leadership. This is in honor of those who have devoted their lives to perpetuating the industry. These individuals are mentors of young and old alike and are willing to give of their time to guide people into this great industry.

In addition to those inductees, this event involved the 14 Chefs of Aloha. An honor bestowed upon Hawaii Chefs that have also shown an overwhelming passion for the industry and the people that work in it. Spending countless hours perfecting their craft, searching the Globe for new and exciting recipes and gracefully presenting it on a plate for you and I to enjoy.

The food was delicious, the inductees stories were memorable and the MCs; Kanoa Leahy, Alan Wong and Catherine Toth kept the evening flowing. A portion of the procedure were donated to the University of Hawaii Scholarship Foundation to benefit students that are passionate about the industry.

The Hawaii Restaurant Association and its Board of Directors are grateful to everyone that came together and made this event possible; beverage sponsors, food sponsors, product sponsor and of course, all of the attendees. See you all again next year…….
