1st Annual HRAEF Chili Cookoff

The HRA Educational Foundation is excited to announce that we have finalized the date of our next fundraiser! We will be holding the first annual Hawaiian Chili Cookoff on March 7 at Koko Marina! The event will be 11am-2pm and will be designed as a competition. Oahu ProStart high schools Kaiser and Leilehua as well as possibly Kohala HS from the Big Island will compete for the best chili! The event will also feature several booths from local restaurants who will be competing against each other, and local businesses within Koko Marina will be donating a percentage of their sales to the cause as well!

All proceeds will go to further the HRAEF’s mission to support our local high school culinary and hospitality programs and to help our schools have what they need in the classroom to be successful.

A big mahalo to Kapiolani Community College who has generously donated the use of their kitchens so the students can have a place to prepare their chili and get to know each other the day before the competition. Another mahalo to our donors who are donating the materials that make it possible for our schools to succeed such as Chef Zone/Y. Hata and Triple F. With their help we are able to pay for all the expenses for our schools and offer them a financial donation to their school for participating, as well as provide them with new knives for their kitchen classrooms and butane burners.

If you would like to sign up to compete or would like to make a contribution, please contact prostarthi@gmail.com
