The HRA Educational Foundation hosted a tailgating fundraiser at the UH vs Air Force Football game and it was a great success! We partnered with local businesses Chef Zone and Triple F to procure donations of food, small wares, beverages, volunteers, and kitchen space to prepare delicious chili dogs, rice and salad before the game and even had matching t-shirts showing our support for UH and our local high school culinary programs!
A big Mahalo to Chef Zone for allowing us to prepare all the food in their kitchen! Participants purchased tickets for $45 which included a ticket to the game in our own section, a t-shirt and food & drink during the tailgating. We had a blast and connected with many members of the community and local restaurant owners who came out to show their support for our local high school culinary programs. We still have plenty of t-shirts available if you’d like to purchase one (details in the flier below) They are UH green with “Chefs are Warriors” on the front and “In the Kitchen” on the back.
We are also very excited to announce the acceptance of two grant applications! The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation has awarded us over $17k and the HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union has generously awarded us $2,500 to help with our programming to support high school culinary programs in Hawaii! These grants show that the community is recognizing the importance of our mission and we can’t wait to put them to good use to help the future generation of hospitality professionals!
A huge Mahalo to Bargreen Ellingson who donated a ton of kitchen small wares to our local high schools! Thanks to them, we’ve been spending the last couple weeks delivering pots and pans, baking supplies, ramekins, aprons and all sorts of other essentials to high schools around the state who submitted wish lists to us.
Lastly, Paypal’s annual “Giving Tuesday” will be on Dec 3rd and we would love your support!
