Where has the year gone? The holiday season is upon us and with it comes the opportunity to offer your guests that feeling of home at your establishment through a holiday menu. We don’t have the snow and our trees don’t change colors but we sure do have the holiday spirit here. People tend to dine out more and many businesses host parties throughout the holidays.
We have seen a number of new restaurants opening in the past 8 months (and a few closing). But the increase in places to dine out has made it even more important to promote what you are offering for the holiday months. The easiest self-promotion is within your own establishment. Start creating flyers and handouts for current customers to take away and talk up with friends and family. Mention all your holiday promotions and start booking your reservations now, you’ll be glad you did. Everyone in our industry knows that this is THE time to make more revenue, get your share of the holiday spending.
Nationally, the restaurant industry is projecting to increase 3.8% over last year, with a total of over $700 Billion dollars in industry sales by year end, based on research provided by the National Restaurant Association. Here in Hawaii, the strength of our economy is a positive sign that this season will see record numbers of people dining out, locals and visitors alike. The visitor numbers to Hawaii are up through the first 8 months by more than 10% with the visitor spending increasing to over $9 billion dollars in revenue for the State, based on reports from the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
