New Member Profile: Cactus

Cactus opened its doors just over five years ago in April of 2012.  When the owners of Cactus would come home to Hawaii from traveling the world, the style of cuisine they missed the most was South American.  They also thought about ingredients available locally and wondered if it could be interpreted into those dishes they desired.  Cactus, a Latin-American restaurant using as much local ingredients as possible, working with local farmers and supporting local business, was conceived.  Our menu features authentic favorites like Peruvian Lomo Saltado, Chilean Clam Bake, Chivto Burger and street-style tacos.  Cocktails such as the Caipirinha and the Pisco Sour accompany a wine list concentrating on South America and Spain.  Local beers from Honolulu Beerworks, Waikiki Brewing, and Maui Brewing round out a list of cold beers from Mexico.  Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, and a dog friendly lanai allows room for the whole family to join us.

Our goal is to support the community, operate sustainability, reduce our footprint, and have fun while we’re doing it!  We are members of the SurfRider Foundation, on our way to platinum status, and finalizing our application with SeaFood Watch to support sustainable fishing practices and sales.  Along with those, we continue to support a number of national and local charities, environmental groups and community clubs.  Please go to www.cactusbistro.com to learn more about us.
